Trauma Kink
Giuvlipen (RO)

Duration: 90 min. Age: Minimum 18 years. Language: English/Romani

A performance about how our upbringing and traumatic experiences define our relationship to intimacy and pleasure in adult life - and about the healing power of vulnerability.

TRAUMA KINK is a music-dramatic, docu-based performance, based on personal and trauma-related material from people from sexual, racial and other minority.

ABOUT GIUVLIPEN
Giuvlipen means feminism in the Romani language and is the first independent Roma feminist theater company in Romania. Their art is challenging, experimental and highly performative. The themes of the performances are diverse, but they all have something in common: they openly discuss topics that history, mentality and social or political constraints have often silenced. In each show, they seek to reclaim the art, history and cultural identity of Roma, through stories told by Roma artists. Giuvlipen was established in 2014 by actresses Mihaela Dragan and Zita Moldovan.

The work’s approach to the pressure and oppression from the majority society, and the will to examine how it affects the subject’s desire and pleasure, alongside the question of empowerment strategies, and how this strategy might give energy to create change."Workshop:
