The performance installation "The Other" delves into the love encounter and all the ambivalence that comes with it. The closer we get to each other, the harder it can be to see and understand the person we are facing, paradoxically enough. We are so preoccupied with the so-called other that we no longer see that person, but only our own longing for love. We are drawn towards love and flee from it at the same time. 

In "The Other", tenderness and violence exist side by side in a maximalist fusion of stage art, video installation and performance. In a universe like a splatter film, bodily fluids are given free rein and the loss of control of devotion unfolds its most horrifying face.

Freya Sif Hestnes and Katrine Leth have their backgrounds in visual and performing arts and use them as a starting point for rethining the form and content of their works. In THE OTHER, it is expressed, among other things, using video installation along with dramatic text, performance and a light and sound installation that provides an immersive experience of the work, created in a joint artistic practice with the rest of the artistic team.
