Strong Enough
The Strong Enough Band (DK)
“Maybe you're not the prettiest, maybe you're not the coolest, maybe you're not the most perfect, but if you put all your skills together, what will you be? Fabulous!” - Cher
STRONG ENOUGH is a bodega concert, a party and a community, where a theater band together with its audience explore the mantra of pop icon Cher: "If you're waiting for someone to believe in you, you'll be waiting forever, you must believe in yourself!”.
Cher has manifested her presence in pop culture for seven decades. Her versatile work testifies an invincible ability to reinvent and actualize herself again and again. With the set list as the dramaturgy of the concert, the theater band asks itself and the audience between the acts what it means to be strong enough in a world where you constantly perform yourself. Cher shows us the way, and performers and audiences can delve into the guilty pleasures of music
The performance premiered at Café Viking in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, and was presented in collaboration with S/H.
THE PRESS WROTE:
"It is both an important and an (eternal) current story, and Strong Enough is an entertaining and perhaps not least a relaxed and engaging concept, where we let our shoulders drop and shout along. (…)
The strength of Strong Enough is the musical arrangements that dare to take Cher's songs in new directions. Especially the delicate, tongue-in-cheek interpretation of Believe, with Anna Bob Fredslund's warm voice slow-dancing with Ingvild Skansen's completely delicate autotune sound. Then the goose bumps came and the venue sighed Oh, yes.”
- Anne Liisberg, Iscene.dk
“She has been here before all of us. She is our heritage! Cher has seen it all, we can mirror ourselves in her, she shows us the world, it's not a pretty sight, but she generously takes on the task. Cher is a leading star. We can call on her when something is difficult, we can always have her with us, use her strength and attitude and always remember that we want to be here!”
